Car Rental
Renting a car gives you flexibility to explore multiple North Coast destinations at your own pace, rather than booking separate transfers for each trip. We have not verified which specific rental brands currently operate a counter at the airport, so confirm directly with a rental company before assuming on-site pickup is available.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is pickup available at the airport terminal itself, or at a nearby office with a shuttle?
- What documents are required — international driving permit requirements vary by nationality, so confirm with the rental company or an official source before you travel.
- Is one-way rental available if you plan to drop the car off in Alexandria or Cairo instead of returning it to the airport?
- What is the insurance excess, and what does it not cover?
- Is fuel policy full-to-full, and where is the nearest fuel station to the return point?
Driving the North Coast road corridor
The main coastal road connecting the airport to Alexandria, New Alamein, and Marassi carries significantly heavier traffic in July and August. If you're unfamiliar with driving in Egypt, consider whether a private transfer for your first trip and a rental for later flexibility suits you better than self-driving from the moment you land.
